Greg Appelt

Greg is a born entrepreneur, although his path to entrepreneurship was somewhat unconventional. Greg earned his MD from the University of Manitoba, and went on to run his own thriving practice as an allergist. It was at that stage of life, a stage many people would consider the pinnacle of their careers, that Greg was just getting started. He became interested in commercial real estate and decided his first venture would be the construction of his own medical building. After its successful completion, Greg knew he’d discovered a new vocation. He founded a commercial development business, RISE (formerly Appelt Medical Developments) with the intention of helping business owners across Western Canada create equity by owning their own office building, the same way he’d been able to. In five years, RISE has developed more than $100 million in commercial assets and has it's very own successful property management division. A driven and focused leader, Greg’s vision is the guiding force behind RISE’s success. This vision coupled with tremendous tenacity, gives Greg a knack for bringing out the best in the people around him. When he's off the clock, Greg can be found on the lake or the slopes, enjoying time with his wife and three kids.

Justin Bierwirth

Justin’s passion for real estate development began in Calgary. After receiving degrees in both Commerce and Kinesiology, he went on to complete his CPA, CA designation. After articling with Collins Barrow LLP, Justin spent time in senior financial roles in both public and private enterprises.   It was, however, while working as a senior executive for a condo development company in Calgary that Justin fell in love with real estate. His career path took him to Kelowna where he became executive VP of a large private real estate company and expanded his expertise further into other asset classes including commercial, office and hotel. Through his experiences, Justin has developed leadership skills beyond the traditional financial executive role and is described by co-workers as authentic, honest and ambitious. When not working, Justin can be found with his wife and three kids on the slopes or around the beach. He is active within the community by participating at Board levels or just coaching his daughter’s basketball team.

Cecelia McGuire

When it comes to balance sheets, Cecelia has pretty much seen it all. She has spent more than 25 years managing finances for construction and development assets ranging from dollar figures in the thousands to the millions, and upward to a billion. Naturally detail-oriented and analytical, Cecelia is a perfect fit with the RISE Management team. Her vision of the big picture enables her to support overall corporate strategy with solid financial management. When she’s not obsessing over spreadsheets, she loves to get outside and explore. Elizabeth Fleming

If there’s one thing Elizabeth knows how to do, it’s step up. As far as she’s concerned there’s no challenge too big - given her 25 years of accounting and office administration she’s seen a lot of them. Happy to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever it’s needed, Elizabeth has deep business acumen garnered from her years spent at various businesses over the past two and a half decades. A transplant from Ontario in 2005, Elizabeth is now happy to call Kelowna home. When she’s not spending time taking in all the sights the Okanagan has to offer, she loves to read a good book, and spend time with her family.
